What is Power Apps Portals?

Power Apps Portals

Portals is the type of application that you can create for external users.

For example self service web portals where your customers can check the status of their tickets, or browse through your products and services catalogue.

Creation

There are three types of applications that you can create using the Power Platform:

Canvas Apps, Model Driven Apps, and Portals.

You can create your app starting from a template. The available templates: Customer Self-Service, Partner Portal, Employee self-service and Community Portal.

Low-Code

Power App Portals follow the same philosophy of the rest of the platform, and provides a very powerful combination of low or no-coding configuration style with simple yet powerful extensibility capabilities.

Access

A Power Apps Portal allow your users to access the content anonymously or to register and sign-in using a variety of identities, from external providers, like Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft, etc.

Data & Security

The greatest capability from Portals is the ability to publish information from your Dataverse environments, with a few clicks. This means that you can expose your data to external audiences.

With great powers comes greater responsibility. The platform provides various layers of security embedded right within the core, allowing you to safely decide what information is public and what remains private.

Progressive Web Apps

With this new feature in preview, you can create portals and allow mobile users to install it, as if they were native apps.

PWAs can be used for both online and offline scenarios. As a maker, you can choose to enable specific pages in your portal to be available offline (the content on these pages will be read-only).

Go on.
